Peter Hewitt devotes his music making to chamber music and Lieder. Over the last 12 years he has built up many long term musical partnerships giving an average of 60 concerts each season collaborating with international musicians. His recital work regularly takes him all around the UK , America and the Middle East .

Peter’s ongoing recording project of the complete Beethoven Piano Sonatas has already attracted considerable critical acclaim. As well as glowing commendations from Vladimir Ashkenazy and John Lill, International Record Review magazine commented, “This is Beethoven speaking directly to us… Hewitt’s technique is flawless… here is the finest Beethoven piano sonatas debut disc I have heard for years; it deserves a place in every CD collection.”

Past performances have included appearances at all the major London venues, tours of Scotland and Wales, nationwide performances of Schumann’s Dichterliebe, including one at the Purcell Room in London as part of the prestigious Fresh Series for outstanding young musicians, tours to the Middle East and the US and countless recitals for music clubs and festivals in the UK. He was recently invited to appear in a VirtuosoPianists series in London featuring six of Europe ’s finest virtuoso pianists.

During last season there were performances of Schubert’s Winterreise, Schumann’s Frauenliebe und Leben and a tour of the USA with recitals and masterclasses in Berkeley , Las Vegas , Louisiana , Lincoln and Omaha , Nebraska and Philadelphia . This season will include a recital devoted entirely to the song cycles of Mahler as part of the International Celebrity Series in Leicester, song recitals at the Lighthouse in Poole and Southampon’s Turner Sims Hall, chamber music concerts at St David’s Hall, Cardiff, a performance of Beethoven’s 3 rd Concerto with the London Festival Orchestra and two series of violin recitals in the Southwest and North of England.

Peter’s repertoire encompasses mainstream works from Bach to Prokofieff but he also maintains an interest in the works of contemporary composers and has given several world premiere performances. He has recorded for BBC Radio and Television, broadcast on Radio 3, Classic FM, Australian Broadcasting Company and also made critically acclaimed commercial recordings for LITmus, Tremula and Meridian .
